Poem of Renewal

The night was washed clean by the heavy rainfall As I sniffed the cool air moist and crisp in the aftermath of the storm It felt renewed, fresh, reset Ready for a new start

Pain had turned me into a chrysalis Hidden away, tucked out of sight and sound As the dark night of my soul raged inside me Afraid and alone  And yet..not so alone

Until finally, like the rain washed night, I too was renewed. Healed and restored And my butterfly self emerged to seek out the world again My true self in all my vibrant colours Sparkling in the sunlight
